Meet SAGE Food Service Director Paige Lentini! She was recently recognized by Food Management as one of the 21 K-12 food service directors and general managers in the United States who’ve made a difference over the past year. She was chosen from more than 400 nominations and has been with SAGE for more than four years. She’s currently the Food Service Director at Roland Park Country School, an independent, all-girls school in Baltimore, Maryland.

We caught up with Paige to chat about her food service career and why she enjoys working at SAGE.

How did you get started in the food service industry?

I’ve always cooked with my dad. I went to a vocational technical school, so immediately after high school, I started with Marriott International and worked with them for 14 years. I also went to Johnson & Wales University during that time.

What’s your favorite thing about working for SAGE?

The students and the community. They really brighten my day. Everyone will come help you when needed, no matter what.

How did it feel to be honored by Food Management as one of the 21 K-12 dining directors who made a difference over the past year?

It was really surprising and humbling. It really made me feel what I was doing was worth it.

Do you enjoy cooking off the clock? What do you do in your spare time?

Only sometimes. I do like to cook for my family and, when they say they love it, it warms my heart.

What’s your favorite kind of cuisine and/or dish to prepare?

Fresh pasta with either a brown butter and sage sauce or a fresh meat sauce.

What are your tips for helping your team run smoothly?

Delegate, trust, and work with them every day.

Food Management isn’t the only one who thinks Paige’s great! District Manager Sherry Cohen nominated Paige and had this to say about her:

Paige’s commitment to customer service exceeds any expectations we could expect from a Food Service Director. She’s well-loved by her school community and receives thank-you notes almost daily from her students. She says ‘yes’ before she’s even asked and is a true team player. Paige is the first to lend a hand to her fellow Managers, a highly valued characteristic with the current industry labor shortage. Paige is passionate about what she does, and it shows in how she interacts with her client, campus community, Team Members, and peers.
